What the hell?
What the hell?
I am sound asleep.
One of our adorable doxies starts barking downstairs. Our other doxie joins in and then it’s a full blown competition to see who can bark the loudest…the infamous doxie howl-fest in full swing. (They are little but loud!)
I fly out of bed! Heart racing and thinking, “Oh shit, they’re going to wake up my my and husband and my son; they’ll be mad. I need to get downstairs and take care of this!”
What the hell?!
It’s Saturday morning, so no work for my husband and my son is almost 21 years old! And they’re our FAMILY dogs, not MY dogs.
What the hell?!
Why is it my job to make sure no one is annoyed and woken up?
It’s not! But for most of my life I thought it was and apparently that programming is still deeply embedded because it was fast and it was automatic! The old programming that says…
I must keep everyone happy at all costs. If someone in my family is unhappy, I must fix it.
That the hell?!
So many of us women have lived with the belief that it’s our job to keep everyone happy and conflict free. I am there to tell you, it’s simply not true.
Something to think about…
Are YOU as happy as the people you’re working so hard to keep happy?
You don’t have to take from your well of happiness to quench the thirst of the unhappy ones around you.
What happens when your well runs dry?
